Car crashes are an all-too-common and costly reality of life.

5.5 Million - Approximate number of car crashes in the U.S. per year.

4.4 Million - Number of injuries serious enough to require medical attention from crashes in 2018.

$871 Billion - Total amount that traffic accidents cost in 2019.

An auto accident can be incredibly stressful, but it's important to keep your cool and think straight.

Be sure to...

{CHECK FOR INJURIES} Determine if you or anyone else in the car is hurt; call 911 if there's any doubt.

{GET SAFE} If possible, move the car to a safe location away from the main roadway.

{CALL FOR HELP} Notify the police of the accident if they don't show up on their own.

{TAKE NOTES} Be sure to get the name, contact and insurance info of the other person[s] involved in the crash.

{DOCUMENTS} Be sure to obtain a copy of the accident report as your insurance company may ask for a copy.

{START YOUR CLAIM} As soon as possible, notify your insurance company of what happened.

An accident can leave even the most seasoned driver frazzled, but following these steps may help protect you from unnecessary worries. That way, you can focus on working with your insurance to get your vehicle repaired as smoothly and as quickly as possible.

At Block, we hope you never have to turn in a claim but if you do, we always strive to make the claim process as easy and stress-free as possible.
